15 Stars Fine Aged Bourbon First West Bourbon 750ml
I will start off with the good. I felt like this was a good solid drink. I got the toffee brown sugar on the taste. But for the price point, it unfortunately is over priced. In my opinion there are plenty of $60 whiskey out there, that are as good or better. $100+ it is just not worth it.

The color invites you to drink. On the nose some caramel, honey and dark chocolate. Flavors of chocolate and dark cherries with some honey and nuts at the end. Very well balanced.
Disappointing, especially at around $140. The nose offers some vanilla cream, maple, and pecan, but it drinks much hotter than I expected for the proof. On the palate I picked up hints of tobacco and toffee, but the heat masks much of the palate’s nuance. It also drinks younger than its age statement would suggest. The finish brings plenty of lingering warmth, but not enough complexity to make up for the heat.
Overall, I’m not impressed. There are plenty of $50–$60 bourbons I’d rather drink neat, and I don’t see myself reaching for this one again that way. It’ll probably end up in Old Fashioneds and other cocktails. At this price, it’s a disappointment.
Not sure how they did it but the 106 proof had no burn to it but let you enjoy the flavors. This makes for a good share with close friends or a good weekend sip when you want to reward yourself for a hard week of work, taking care of the family and meeting all those other demands. I don't usually pay this for a single bottle but it is a nice addition. Thanks for having it in the monthly box and making it available.
