A Kentucky name from 1880, revived a century later by the Hargis family and eighth-generation master distiller Jacob Call. The Whiskey Library team hand-picked these barrels and had them bottled straight, with no water added.

Tasting Notes
Nose - Honey and vanilla up front, with caramel and ripe orchard fruit underneath. At 132+ proof it comes on bold, so give it a minute in the glass before you dive in.
Palate - Rich and full-bodied. Caramel and honey sweetness meet ripe orchard fruit, with a little spice from the high-rye mash bill. A splash of water softens the heat and opens up the fruit.
Finish - Long and warming, drying into charred oak while caramel and fruit linger to the end.

The Silk Velvet Story
Silk Velvet started in Henderson, Kentucky in 1880 and was a national brand until Prohibition shut it down. A hundred years later, the Hargis family revived it with Jacob Call at Western Kentucky Distilling. This year it was one of the fastest-selling bourbons at Kentucky Bourbon Festival.

Very nice selection sent! My all time favorite is the Doc Holiday though. So far i haven't tasted any that beats it. Ive drank 4 bottles so far 2 fingers at a time. Awesome sipping
I did not receive my 15 stars bottle nor did I receive the two glasses and my last box I had a damaged glass and I let that one slide, but I did not get one of my bottles of bourbon and I did not get my two glasses this go around!
Received Doc Holliday 8 year and Old Dominick this month.
Old Dom was good. I wouldn't call it great... but good. Nice smooth drink from nose to mouth to finish. Nothing exceptional, but a decent pour and for the $60... was reasonable-ish.
However, the Doc Holliday 8 year at $120... fell short. Pleasant nose and smooth mouth... the finish was just hot/pepper and way too spicy. In fact, is about the only thing I remember was the finish because it was so overpowering, hot, and unpleasant... and it was lower proof than the OldDom. Tbh I had suspected that the bottle would be greater than the sauce which was why I haven't purchased at the liquor store. At $120, and even in a "cool" bottle, it was not worth it to me. The DocHoll will just sit in the cabinet probably. May use it as a mixing bottle or save it for the unsuspecting.
Hopefully next month's selections will be better. If not, then I'll likely have to reconsider the cost of membership.
my first box had 5 bottles in it, i must say.. that 15 Start Three Ports was outstanding! There was only one i didn't care too much for (Couture Collection 10 year from World Whiskey Society). The others were great! In all i received Neeley Small Batch 5 year, Barrell Bourbon: Tale of two Islands, Couture Collection 10 year, 15 starts three ports, Breckenridge High Proof Blend.
I can't wait to receive my next shipment.
Received an old Dominick not the moonlight mayhem. Old dom is pretty hot being a cask strength. Will need to add a bit of water to temper that one. Doc Holliday is pretty good but I would not pay 120 for another bottle.
