Neeley Eleven Generations of Distillers Small Batch 750ml
In looking thru the reviews, I found another member with a similar issue. The mystery box 📦 card showed one mash bill (65% corn, 30% rye and 5% malted barley), the bottle showed 68% corn 🌽, 19% wheat and 13% malt. I found none of the softness associated with the wheat. Curious about this discrepancy. Anyone else?
Let it open up for a bit - 15 minutes - in a glencairn. Oak and rye were prominent. Failed to pick up much else. A bit bitter, sad to say. Will see if it improves over a large cube. May take to Whiskey Club for informed second opinions.
I was sent a different mash bill of this bourbon and it’s not good. The one I got is corn 68%, wheat 19%, malt 13%. No rye and it almost tastes like a scotch and I don’t like scotch at all. There’s no rye to balance out the malty flavors and the wheat enhances it. Not good.
Too much oak. Did not get most of the flavors mentioned neat or on a big rock.
Would not purchase on its own.
