Awesome Bourbon

The nose is dark fruit all the way. You get black cherry and raspberry jam right up front, with cinnamon and baking spice coming in close behind. After a minute you start noticing something like toffee and warm break, there's something earthy that I could not place. The color is a deep reddish amber, almost like it has a hint of wine in it.

On the palate it is rich and a little jammy. You get that same dark cherry and raspberry, with a warm spice that reminds me of a holiday pie crust. There is a toffee sweetness that keeps it from being too heavy, and a little tannin that gives it a dry edge so it does not feel like you are drinking syrup. It is smooth and full in the mouth without being hot.

The finish is long and a little dry, with cinnamon, dark fruit, and a mild sweetness that hangs around for a good while. It is clean and not bitter, just a warm, spiced ending that makes you want another sip. This has been one of my favorite surprised in the almost year I've been a member.

Tips: Let it sit in the glass for a couple minutes and the earthy note really come out. A few drops of water softened the tannin a bit and made cherry stand out more, but honestly it drinks really great neat.

Good enough I got another bottle and one for a gift.

When I fill out my preferences I definitely put not a scotch lover. This is extremely scotchy. But to give it its roses it had a nice nuttiness on the finish. If you like complex scotch flavors this will be for you…. Just not for me.

Very good as a dessert bourbon.
