Woody Creek Distillers
Mary and Pat Scanlan and Mark Kleckner founded Woody Creek in 2012 in Basalt, Colorado, in the Roaring Fork Valley outside Aspen. The Roaring Fork grew more potatoes than Idaho in the 1920s, which is why the first product was a potato vodka rather than a whiskey.
Everything is milled, distilled, aged and bottled on the Basalt site using custom CARL stills from Germany, with potatoes off the family farm and grain from Colorado growers. The whiskey range grew out of that same footprint, a Colorado straight rye and a bourbon. The distillery is women led under Mary Scanlan and has taken more than twenty national and international medals. Mountain whiskey made where the grain grows.
