Ron Abuelo 12 Años is a premium aged rum from Panama's esteemed Varela Hermanos distillery, a family-owned enterprise with roots dating back to 1908 when Don José Varela Blanco established the country's first sugar mill in Pesé.  This 12-year-old expression is crafted from sugar cane honey and aged in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, resulting in a rich and complex flavor profile.  On the nose, it offers notes of caramel, vanilla, and hints of citrus.  The palate is thick and creamy, with flavors of spice, toasted oak, herbs, and dark brown sugar, leading to a good finish with cinnamon and oak.  The 750ml bottle is elegantly presented, reflecting the brand's heritage and commitment to quality, making it an excellent choice for both connoisseurs and those new to aged rums.
